Also me: “hot damn they’re adding new passing lanes!”
For reference: a lot of Saskatchewan is two lane highways. So when you get two double trailer trucks sniffing buttholes at 90 km/h, and you’re in some rolling hills, passing is impossible, and you might as well park the car and nap for a few hours, because you’ll get to your destination at the same time. On some highways, there’s a third lane at points, which alternates directions depending on where you’re at, in which you get two or three kilometres to pass the slowpokes. It’s awesome.
And now, for the comments about what kind of third world province I live in.

Highways again?

No snarky comments from me! All I have to do is head south through the Palouse to experience the same exact thing. If they announced more passing lanes on US 195 I would be just as happy as your are.

Hey, try driving highway 5 between Saskatoon and Humboldt with a grain silo being delivered in front of you and let me know that there aren't any hills!

You don’t have to fight me. This home in humboldt cost as much as my townhouse at the ass end of Metro Vancouver next to a homeless shelter.
Your province may be flat, but the people are great and it doesn’t cost $3000 a year to insure your car or $500,000 to buy a one room condo

It’s a sight line thing. Even in ND/Nebraska where it is flat as a pancake, there are still slight rises in the land that make a good sight line very difficult.

G reat news - now the province will need to embark on an educational program so that folks actually know how to use them. We have a fair number down here but nine times out of ten you get two “ slow” people, side by side, run the entire length of the passing lane....
